Susana Vargas is an artist, art historian and teacher from Bogotá, Colombia. She studied at the University of the Andes and later specialized in Contemporary Art Analysis at the University of Barcelona, ​​which led her to work at the International Art Fair of Bogotá, ARTBO.
Susana also worked for three years as an art teacher in an art-based and non-traditional school in Bogotá and has developed art history workshops nationally. She completed a Mindfulness Certificate for Educators and attended a conference on Pedagogical Reserve: Innovation in School Education, in Madrid and Soria in Spain. Her desire to know more about art education and innovation influenced her to pursue her MA in Art Education at Concordia University, which she is currently doing.
She has developed research on the influence of the political context on artistic manifestations in Colombia in the 30s and 50s, which stirred her to explore the political and violent context in her home country. Aware of the history of violence and context of Colombia, Susana has developed a strong interest in the Colombian armed conflict, in order to explore how art education can contribute to a society that is facing a period of post-conflict.
